If you've never watched the Survivor television show, here is a quick run down on what happens in CBS Survivor: The Amazon.

From Survivor applications, 16 contestants are chosen to compete in a secret location to win one million dollars. They must try to outplay, outwit and outlast their opponents, in frightening and appalling conditions, risking their life and their sanity. Jeff Probst hosts the show and runs the Survivor games and the Tribal Council to see which castaway is voted out of either the Tambaqui tribe or the Jaburu Tribe.

The location is the Amazon Rain Forest in Brazil. The Survivor contestants are battling under the rain forest canopy of Manaus, next to Rio Negro in the La Floresta da Vida ecological reserve in the Amazon jungle. The Survivor Amazon film crew spends their nights in the exclusive Ariau Towers hotel - the luxury accommodation on stilts high above the survivors.
